The French National Fire Officers Academy (ENSOSP) has trained over 28 000 professional officers :
- from the rank of Lieutenant to General inspector ;
- officers and professionnal and volunteer fire officers as well as health service officers (nurses, doctors, pharmacists, veterinarians).
The French National Fire Officers Academy is a national public administration. It depends upon the General Directorate for Civil Protection and Crisis Management (DGSCGC), the Interior Ministry.
Its governance is shared with territorial authorities, staff representatives and the State.
The Academy was created 34 years ago in Nainville-les-Roches. In 2011, the site of Aix-en-provence inaugurated the new ENSOSP premises.
The missions of the national school
- The initial and continuous training of professional and volunteer fire officers.
- The organisation of training courses on civil protection issues for authorities and civil servants.
- The organisation and coordination of the network of fire and rescue services
- Research and forecasting on civil protection issues and the sharing of this information with all fire services.
- The development of international cooperation actions.
- The school provides courses on operational management and command, crisis management and other subjects. These courses are taught by English speaking instructors.
